“You and I have an average of about seventy or eighty years on this earth. During these years we are bombarded with the temporary. Make Money. Get Stuff. Be Comfortable. Live Well. Have Fun. In the middle of it all, we get blinded to the eternal. But it’s there. You and I stand on the porch of eternity.”
Now we will admit that we took this quote and ran with our interpretation. We don’t believe David Platt intended for us to take it in this direction. So here is where it took us.
The idea of life taking place on the porch of eternity got us thinking about our students and where they are in life. Thinking creatively spring-boarding from the “porch” idea, we asked the questions: Are they “walking down the street, at the block party, in the yard, or on the porch with us? Truth is there are students in every one of these categories.
We came to realize that our goal is to move each student from walking down the street to being in close community with us on the porch. This is done by being intentional with every opportunity we have to reach every student in every category.
